![]() Unfortunately, sometimes, Pacifist encounters problems if the package uses more than one compression method. You may also adjust a couple of Installation options, but probably the most useful automation can be found under the Authorization menu: you can authorize Pacifist to run tasks as Root, which means that you will have to input your system account password only once. In the Preferences window, you can specify which folders should be automatically expanded, the information that should be displayed for each file (size, kind, modification date, owner name, group name, permission flags, version or checksum) or if you want Pacifist to calculate the folder size. If things go as planned, you will be able to inspect those types of packages in no time. Officially, Pacifist offers support for a wide range of common archive types. The Search Receipt function is using different windows, but their design is quite simple, organized and their usage intuitive. The same type of window is opened when previewing remote archives or Apple Installers, but you must use the respective buttons from the main window and input the link/select the Apple package. On top, you will be able to find contact details for the developer and the Register button: Pacifist is a shareware application, and the only limitation is a 15-second delay screen at start up.įor browsing archives stored locally a simple drag and drop over the Pacifist dock icon is sufficient: the application will open a new window where you will be able to see the package size (compressed and uncompressed), preview the content, view the size of the selected file, install separate elements, open files and more. The Pacifist main window stays open at all times, and contains buttons for the four basic features: Open Package, Open URL, Open Apple Installers and Search Receipts. It also gives you the option to extract only certain contained files, and comes packed with tools designed to help you reinstall applications. Pacifist is able to provide an inside scoop on several types of archive files stored locally or on a remote location, via the Internet. Pacifist allows you to make sure you are channeling your efforts in the right direction by giving you the possibility to preview the content of the packages, and even extract only the files you need.Ĭompressing files is imperative for sharing, backing up or storing data, but knowing exactly what you are downloading or simply unarchiving is equally important since, most of the time, the process takes a while. Sudo xattr -c /Applications/PixInsight/lib/*.Downloading and opening large archives takes time. Sudo xattr -c /Applications/PixInsight/lib/*.pb Sudo xattr -c /Applications/PixInsight/bin/libtensorflow* Sudo xattr -c /Applications/PixInsight/bin/StarNet-pxm.dylib # Change file attributes so MacOS can recognize and not "sandbox" the files Sudo cp lib/* /Applications/PixInsight/lib & echo "updated StarNet weights" # Add the rgb and mono weights used by StarNet Sudo cp bin/* /Applications/PixInsight/bin & echo "updated StarNet process & tensorflow libraries" # Add the StarNet module and new tensorflow libraries compatible with M1 Sudo rm /Applications/bin/libtensorflow* & echo "deleted old tensorflow libraries" # Start by removing the tensorflow libraries that were installed by default # (although a bit slower because it runs in Rosetta-2 emulation) # StarNet module functionality that you had with your Intel mac # After running this you can restart PixInsight and have the same # with versions that work with the M1 Mac # This script replaces tensorflow libraries and the StarNet module maybe it can be built from source on an M1 mac and that would result in ARM dylibs. ![]() while there is now a metal plugin for tensorflow2 which allows python-based programs to use the GPU for tensorflow code, i'm not sure if google has ever released ARM-based dylibs for tensorflow. it has to be all x86, including the dylibs. that may have been because the test to figure out if the given intel CPU supported the instructions was too much trouble - obviously here it's known a priori that M1 macs can not support those instructions.Įdit: also i think there was some concern about carrying around 2 sets of tensorflow libraries.Īctually when juan finishes native M1 support StarNet might disappear for good - i was just reading the developer documentation for rosetta2 and it explicitly disallows mixing x86 and ARM in a translated binary. Way back probably before the release of -8 we had a discussion about this - mainly about how to support intel processors that are missing AVX2/FMA (which now includes rosetta2) and IIRC juan felt that it was too much to support in the installer. ![]() I think may have written a script to do all the post-install work to get StarNet going on M1 macs, but i think he posted it on Cloudy Nights.
